A gumming sheet is a paper or film sheet coated with an adhesive layer, designed for applications like labeling and printing, often with a backing that is peeled off before application. A release paper is a paper coated with a release agent and is used to protect the adhesive surface of products like gumming sheets, or for applications like film forming. These two components are often used together; the gumming sheet is the part with the adhesive and the release paper is the backing that protects it. Gumming sheet
  • Description: A sheet with a uniform adhesive layer applied to one side, ready to be stuck to another surface.
  • Function: To provide a strong, mess-free bond without the need for additional glue or tape.
  • Application: Users peel off the protective backing and press the exposed adhesive side onto a target surface.
  • Availability: Commonly available in standard rectangular sizes like 12x18 inch and 13x19 inch, compatible with many labeling machines.
Release paper
  • Description: A paper or film coated with a release agent.
  • Function: To protect the adhesive side of a gumming sheet or other adhesive products from sticking to other surfaces prematurely. It also prevents the adhesive from drying out.
  • Application: It is peeled away from the gumming sheet to reveal the adhesive layer for application.
  • Types: Can be made of paper or filmic materials, and can have a single-sided or double-sided release coating.

Plastic-coated paper is a composite material with a paper base and a protective plastic layer, most commonly polyethylene (PE), laminated onto it. This coating provides enhanced properties such as moisture, grease, and oil resistance, improved durability, and a glossy finish for better printability. It is frequently used for packaging food and beverages, disposable products, and other items requiring a moisture barrier. Key features and benefits
  • Moisture and grease resistance: The plastic coating creates a barrier that prevents liquids, oils, and moisture from soaking into the paper, making it ideal for greasy foods like fast food or items sensitive to humidity.
  • Enhanced durability: The plastic layer makes the paper stronger, more tear-resistant, and able to withstand harsh handling and transport.
  • Superior printability: The smooth, glossy surface is excellent for high-quality printing, allowing logos, text, and designs to appear clear and vibrant.
  • Versatility: It can be used for a wide range of applications, from wrapping and lining to creating cups, plates, and containers

Poly coated paper is a paper product with a thin layer of polyethylene or polypropylene bonded to its surface, creating a material that is strong, moisture-resistant, grease-resistant, and durable. This makes it ideal for packaging applications, especially for food, because it protects contents from liquids and contaminants while maintaining good printability for branding. Key features
  • Moisture and grease barrier: The poly coating creates a barrier against water, grease, and other liquids, preventing them from seeping through the paper.
  • Durability: The coating adds strength, tear resistance, and puncture resistance, making it more robust than standard paper.
  • Printability: The smooth, often glossy surface is suitable for high-quality printing, allowing for vibrant graphics and clear text.
  • Versatility: It can be used for a wide range of products, from food items like snacks and coffee to industrial goods and labels.
  • Heat-sealable: The coating provides the ability to heat-seal, which is beneficial for creating secure and airtight packaging.
